Can my children learn to swim at Stellar Swim?

Yes! We provide learn to swim lessons for children of all ages and abilities from 3 months of age.

When can I book in to Stellar Swim?

Our program runs continuously year round, without any large term blocks. This means that you can book in to classes at any time that is convenient for you.

All year round? Should my child swim in winter?

At Stellar Swim, our pool is heated to 32o all year round. So no matter the weather outside, your child will always be comfortable in their lessons in our pool – even in winter!

Can I try your classes before I book in?

Of course! Every new swimmer at Stellar Swim can book a free trial lesson, where they can try an actual class to see how well we suit them. After this class, you can decide if you would like to book in.

How much do your lessons cost?

Our lessons are $21.95 per lesson.

How do I pay for lessons at Stellar Swim?

We know that sometimes parents are in a rush to get in to their classes on time, and time spent at the front desk paying for classes just makes it harder. That’s why all lessons at Stellar Swim are paid by direct debit weekly, this way you don’t need to worry about paying on your way in.

How long do I need to book in for?

Learning to swim takes time. It can sometimes take a few weeks for your child to build confidence and for you to begin to see their progress. That’s why when you book in at Stellar Swim, you book for a minimum 4 week introductory period so you can best see how the class suits your child.

What if I need to change classes?

Sometimes things happen and a class time is no longer convenient for you. Just let us know, and we can move your child to any available class throughout the week that is more convenient for you. We’ll happily change your class time for you whenever you need.

What if I need to cancel my class?

As our classes run continuously, you can cancel your class at any time. All you need to do is provide us with 2 weeks’ notice to cancel your direct debit.

What if my child misses a class?

At Stellar Swim, we know that sometimes missing a class is unavoidable, that’s why we’re happy to offer make up lessons for missed lessons. To book in a make up lesson, we require written notice of the absence before the usual class time. A maximum of 6 make up lessons can be used per year.

What if we’re going to be away for a longer period of time?

At Stellar Swim we know how important the bond is that your child forms with their teacher, that’s why it’s important to be able to return to your current class after a time away. If your child is going to be away for more than one week, we can put a hold on your class. While your child’s class is on hold, we’ll only charge $5 per week to hold their spot, instead of their usual fee. This hold fee guarantees your child their spot in the same class when they return. If your child will be away for more than 2 months, we recommend that you cancel your class and return when it is convenient for you.

What learn to swim program do you use?

Our Learn to Swim program is based on the Royal Life Saving Society’s Swim and Survive program. At Stellar Swim, we have partnered with experts in the Learn to Swim field who have adapted the Swim and Survive program to produce the best Learn to Swim program that we can provide for your child.

How is your learn to swim program structured?

At Stellar Swim, our learn to swim program has four components, Wonder, Confidence, Development, and Skilled. Our Wonder program caters for babies from 3 months to 4 years of age. Our Confidence levels start at 4 years of age and work to increase your child’s confidence and safety in the water whilst beginning to teach them vital water movement skills. Our Development levels continue to develop these water movement skills to form them into swimming strokes and survival skills that your child will be able to call on to save themselves. Our Skilled levels continue to develop and refine your child’s swimming strokes and abilities to ensure they are skilled and safe in the water.

How are your classes organised?

Our Wonder levels (for babies from 3 months) are based on your child’s age so that we can teach water skills most relevant to your child’s developmental skills. All of our Confidence, Development, and Skilled levels are based on your child’s swimming ability, rather than their age. This means that your child is always learning the best skills for their level of swimming ability to continue to improve their safety in the water.

How does my child progress to the next level?

Every level that we have at Stellar Swim has different skills that it is focusing on. We will regularly assess your child on these skills to see how they are progressing, and as soon as they are ready we’ll move them up to the next level. With regular feedback, you’ll always know what your child is working on to progress to the next level.

Will my child be safe at Stellar Swim?

Yes! During lessons there are no other programs running in our pool, this ensures that our attention is 100% focused on your child. In addition, we pride ourselves on striving to not only meet, but to exceed the minimum requirements of the Royal Life Savings Society’s Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations. All of our staff hold a current CPR and WWVP and are trained in aquatic rescues. In addition, our out of water staff all hold a current First Aid certification at a minimum.

How skilled are your teachers?

All of our teachers hold nationally recognised learn to swim teaching qualifications, and are reviewed regularly to ensure that they are providing the best quality lessons for your child.
